Join surface designer Katie Gilles and learn to design and make a bespoke pair of Jesmonite Terrazzo coasters. Discover all about other ways and formats Jesmonite can be used.
On the day
You will learn how to mix Jesmonite and cast into silicone moulds. Play and experiment with many different colour flecks to give your Jesmonite coasters that look of Terrazzo and make your design individual to you.
While the coasters dry and cure there will be refreshments and a chance to chat to Katie about how to further your practice and to discover all about her field of work.
You will be using Jesmonite AC100 which is an acryclic and resin-based material. It is solvent-free and has no VOC's so it is environmentally friendly.
Katie will take your coasters back to the studio to sand and will send them out to you the following week.
About Katie
Katie Gillies is a surface and product designer from Nottingham, England. She set up her studio from her parent’s garage back in 2015 and began doing both personal design projects and commissioned work for clients. Later in 2016, she moved into a studio in Nottingham’s city centre, where she still is today (now with a very pink floor).
Katie specialises in using Jesmonite to create her colourful Terrazzo surfaces and products. Every piece is carefully cast by hand and is completely unique in its colour and design. Her Terrazzo works are used for interior projects and products, ranging from wall panels to homeware goods.
