Jesmonite terrazzo tile making workshop with maker Katie Gilles
Photography : Kasia Kiliszek
Some photographs of the recent “Jesmonite Terrazzo Workshop” taught by Katie Gilles that we hosted at the Forge in July. Katie is a surface and product designer based in Nottingham. She set up her studio from her parents garage back in 2015 and began doing both personal design projects and commissioned work for clients
Katie specialises in using Jesmonite, which is an acrylic and resin based material, to create her colourful terrazzo surfaces and products. Every piece is carefully cast by hand and is completely unique in it’s colour and design. Her terrazzo works can be used for interior projects and products, ranging from wall panels to homeware goods. Alongside her own product she runs workshops teaching folks to create their own beautiful pieces - lucky us :)
I couldn’t make it on the day so Kasia captured the workshop all it’s gloriousness - this was one of our busiest creative workshop so far and certainly the most colourful. I’m definately coming along to the next one!
As always a huge thank you to everyone who came along, to Kasia for capturing it, to Jessie for helping out on the day, and to Katie for sharing her brilliant creativity with us.
Katie’s next workshop at the Forge is on September 28th - click here for details (this workshop sold out super quick last time so don’t delay if you’d like to come along!)
