Modern Craft Workshop | Design your own jesmonite “terrazzo” coasters with Katie Gilles

Terazzo tile creative workshop with Katie Giles_EV.jpg

Join surface designer Katie Gilles and learn to design and make your very own beautifully patterned bespoke pair of jesmonite terrazzo coasters and discover all about other ways and formats Jesmonite can be used.

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE 2 SESSIONS AVAILABLE : 11 - 1 pm or 3 - 5pm

On the day

You will be using Jesmonite AC100 which is an acyclic and resin-based material. It is solvent free and has no VOC's so it is environmentally friendly.

Katie will show you how to mix the Jesmonite material and how to cast it into silicone moulds.

You get to play and experiment with many different colour flecks to give your Jesmonite coasters that look of Terrazzo and make your design individual to you.

While the coasters dry and cure we’ll have refreshments and will be on hand to talk to you individually providing advice or maybe you just want a chat to learn more about what it’s like in Katie’s field of work.

Katie will take your coasters back to the studio to sand and will send them out to you the following week

Refreshments will be served

About Katie

Katie Gillies is a surface and product designer from Nottingham, England. She set up her studio from her parents garage back in 2015 and began doing both personal design projects and commissioned work for clients. Later in 2016, she moved into a studio in Nottingham’s city centre, where she still is today (now with a very pink floor).

Katie specialises in using Jesmonite, which is a acrylic and resin based material, to create her colourful terrazzo surfaces and products. Every piece is carefully cast by hand and is completely unique in it’s colour and design. Her terrazzo works are used for interior projects and products, ranging from wall panels to homeware goods.
